Module 6: Flux Core Arc Welding Powerpoint

In this virtual lecture, Michael will discuss Module 6: Flux Core Arc Welding. This video corresponds with Module 6 in your textbook. Michael will discuss the two types of Flux Core Arc Welding, self-shielded and dual-shielded along with safety precautions that go along with the FCAW welding process, machine setup, shielding gas, components, and consumables necessary for FCAW. We will be covering the AWS electrode classification system for FCAW, how to select the correct electrode, and polarity for the type and thickness of material being welded. We will also discuss the operator variables that will help you lay a nice weld bead in the joint by using the correct voltage and wire feed speed settings, arc length, work angle, travel angle, and travel speed.

Module 6: Flux Core Arc Welding Machine Setup/Demonstration

In this video Michael will go through the setup of the FCAW welding machine and how to select the correct voltage, wire feed speed, correct drive rolls, shielding gas and torch consumables plus demonstrate operator variables, arc length, work angle, travel angle, and travel speed. Michael will highlight some tips for striking an arc, maintaining an arc, extinguishing the arc, and filling in craters including tie ins/blending/continuing a weld.
